ABOUT ME
After writing, trend-watching and executing design for the last 25 years, I can safely say that I enjoy them all in equal measure. Driven by passion and love for design, it is the out-of-box and innovative problem solving through design, that amps the adrenalin. With an eagle-eye tracking of our (Indian) rapidly changing design perception and adoption, makes me wonder if design anthropology is a thing yet or is it water finding its new level?
As a specialist in magazine journalism, I have worked in several leading publishing houses and worked on the launch of six, two of these being international magazine; viz. the Indian editions of Livingetc and Better Homes & Gardens from UK and the US respectively. The high-point of my magazine-career has been the mapping of changes in design consumption, with special reference to the twice-launched Livingetc (2009 & 2017) in India.
Having consulted on Soft Furnishings and Styling for several HNI homes in India and abroad (mostly the US) nothing gives me more joy than to see the homeowners delight for years-after in the way their house-converted-home speaks to them, thanks to the magic that Soft Furnishings can create. Referenced culturally and socially, I am proud to say that the homes become a chip on their broad shoulders, and brings joy to everyday living.
Design consolidation and expression through Coffee Table Books as a living documentary, is another hat worn. Studying and drawing up a map of content that highlights the accomplishments and achievements, is an area of recent specialisation.
I have travelled from the Arctic to the Far East, besides most of India, absorbing the local design, crafts and cuisine. Before plunging into Design, I forayed the then uncharted territory of food reviews, writing for most of the national dailies. (1993-97)
Seeing a building transition into a stylish home, office or a hotel; through curated Soft Furnishing and Accessories is my current elixir of life.
How can I help you to make your surroundings represent you?
